University of Ferrara Research Doctorate Courses Scholarships

Open Competition based on academic qualifications for admission to Research Doctorate courses
XXIV Cycle – Year 2009
Reserved for students from international education

The University of Ferrara announces an open competition based on academic qualifications and reserved for students from international education, for admission to the following Research Doctorate courses – XXIV cycle, year 2009:

Economics / Law / Humanities / Social Studies
Medicine / Biology
Science & Technology
The grants not awarded by macro area will be available for candidates in other macro areas, according to the order of points scored as indicated in the admission ranking list.

The number of place available, with and without financial aid, for each phd course, can be found at the following atr. 18 together with information on and characteristic of each course.

Participation in this competition does not prevent candidates from participating in the competition by exam, that will be published.

Prerequisites to access the courses
The competition is open to all candidates who have an international academic qualification recognised in Italy as equivalent to the Laurea Vecchio ordinamento, Laurea specialistica (D.M. 509/99) or Laurea Magistrale (D.M. 27/04). Applications will be scrutinised by the doctorate coordinator in order to determine the academic suitability for admission to the appropriate doctorate

Candidates can be excluded from the selection process at any stage should they fail to comply with the above prerequisites.

Application Form
Applications should be submitted using the attached application form and ensuring that all relevant documentation is enclosed. Applications must arrive by 11th July 2008, any applications received after this date will not be accepted.

Applications must be sent to: Al Magnifico Rettore dell’Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Ufficio Post-laurea, Via delle Scienze, 41/b, 44100 – Ferrara, and must be delivered with a photocopy of a valid identification document, in one of the following ways:

Directly by hand at the Post Graduate Office, hours open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday (from 9:00 to 11:30), Tuesday (from 15:00 to 17:00);

By post (Please ensure that applications are posted with sufficient time in order to arrive before the closing date)
ALL APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE OF 11TH July 2008 WILL BE EXCLUDED – EVEN IF SENT BEFORE THIS DATE.

Application forms must be completed accurately and must include (typed or in print):

Full name including first and surname, date and place of birth, current address (including telephone number and email address).
The exact name of the Doctorate course you are applying for.
Nationality
Title of present academic award, date it was awarded, University from which it was gained. For this it is necessary to attach the foreign degree certificate with indication of the exams taken and the grades awarded, accompanied by a translation in Italian or English; the translation must be signed and taken responsibility for in order to acquire recognition of the title. In case of admission to the doctorate candidates must present, by 31st March 2009, a copy of the certificate certifying the receipt of the award complete with translation, legalisation, and declaration of legal value as according to Art. 13 below
To commit themselves to attend the Doctorate course full time as according to the modalities that will be formalised by the Faculty of professors.
ALL APPLICATIONS THAT ARE NOT ON THE FORM ATTACHED OR INCOMPLETE IN ANY WAY WILL BE EXCLUDED.

The following documents must be attached to the application:

Certificate certifying the foreign degree with indication of the exams taken and the relevant grades achieved.
At least two references from academic staff who have been involved in delivering your degree.
A current curriculum vitae
Any other evidence that may support your application.
Photocopy of valid identification document.
All documents must be accompanied by a translation into either Italian or English.
