JOB DESCRIPTIONS

- Working with the Engineer and Construction Services Manager to organize and manage construction activities (prototype house and water sanitation system construction).
- Support the Engineer and Construction Services Manager to ensure effective communication and working relationships are maintained within the Department, such as Outreach and Procurement Department.
- Provide technical expertise in tendering and bidding, review designs and architectural drawings, monitor work in the field for quality and efficiency.
- Provide advice to the Engineer and Construction Services Manager about local construction standards, regulations and building approvals.
- Review design and estimate cost (BOQ) documents and provide advice on whether they comply with local Indonesian building standards.

Responsible for the design and development of highly sophisticated communication products for the professional and mission critical markets in the commercial, government and industrial segments.

Utilize Modeling and Simulation Software to create and evaluate designs, including mold flow analysis, drop and impact simulation and thermal stress, prior to releasing the design.

Experience and knowledge in injection molding/casting/sheet metal tools are required and mastering them are added advantage.

Critical thinking and strong technical fundamental are required to make an effective technical decision.

Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers in design rules and selection, and using proper engineering, statistical tools and processes to ensure "Right first time" product design.

The North West Public Health Observatory within the Centre for Public Health, Liverpool John Moores University invites applications are invited for an MPhil/PhD studentship to conduct a programme of research concerning relative and absolute inequalities in health.

It is well recognised that inequalities in wealth lead to inequalities in health. At a population level, many health indicators show a strong relationship with deprivation. In western societies it is not absolute poverty but an individual’s perceived or actual rank in society that is linked to health. However, while research has been carried out at individual level using small-scale surveys, little has been done to utilise the enormity of geographical level data to explore this effect. This research programme will test the hypothesis that the deprivation of immediately surrounding localities relative to each locality is a predictor of ill-health, and determine the strength of this relationship at different geographical levels.

In doing so, it will utilise deprivation and health data available at the level of lower super output area, supplemented by national lifestyle data using modelling techniques. The research is highly quantitative and will require extensive application of multivariate statistical techniques and use of geographic information systems (GIS).

Applicants should have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in Health, Geography or other related or social science discipline. A relevant Masters degree would be an advantage (professional research experience would also be considered). The student will join an active team of analysts, researchers and information specialists within the NWPHO. The work programme will be supported by academics with specialist expertise and networks, in addition to the support and development opportunities provided by the University Research and Graduate School and the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences.

The studentship covers university fees at the UK/EU level and a stipend of £12,600 per annum for full-time study for up to three years. The student will register initially for the award of MPhil and will be expected to transfer to PhD registration within 12-15 months (subject to satisfactory progress and approval of the transfer report).

Interacting stochastic models on complex networks

Complex networks with small-world properties occur in a multitude of real-world communication networks. In this project we shall investigate the nature of interacting systems on such networks and understand their phase-transitions.

The student will be supervised by C. K ulske, A. C. D. van Enter(Groningen) and R. van der Hofstad (Eurandom, Eindhoven). The Ph.D. student will be based in Groningen with longer visits to Eurandom.

The Groningen group working on the probability theory of interacting systems will consist of two sta members, two senior part-time positions and 4 Ph.D. students, and has strong international ties.

The contract is for 4 years and the Ph.D. student will be a full employee of the University of Groningen, with monthly salary according to the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities. This is at the moment 1956, 2279, 2387, 2502 Euro for the rst year up to the fourth year. The position is nanced by an NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scienti c Research) “Open Competitie” grant. It is open for both non-Dutch and Dutch applicants.
